Significant Grants Advance Phase II at NTC Promenade
The NTC Foundation received several significant grants in September to advance the eight-building Phase II development of our growing cultural campus, including a major capital grant from the City of San Diego’s Redevelopment Agency and a two-year grant from The Parker Foundation to help support nonprofit organizations in their new venue at NTC Promenade.
With seven buildings complete and open to the public, the NTC Foundation is working to renovate the next eight-building phase of the project starting in early 2011 for an autumn completion. A significant $4 million capital grant from the City of San Diego’s Redevelopment Agency will augment other funds to renovate seven historic Barracks buildings along the North Promenade and the home and gardens at Officer’s Quarters D, one of the four historic homes on Rosecrans Street.
Renovating the buildings is one scope of the project – it’s what happens inside the buildings that is our greater mission to develop a campus where San Diego residents and visitors can be engaged by the work of San Diego’s creative organizations and businesses. The NTC Foundation has received a two-year $100,000 grant from The Parker Foundation that will be used to help subsidize the rents of qualifying nonprofit organizations that want to make their home at NTC Promenade. As we have seen in the first phase of the project, organizations find success at NTC with opportunities to increase earned income and lower operating costs through collaboration. The Parker grant is a challenge grant for which we are seeking matching funds to benefit more nonprofits.
Nonprofits, artists or others seeking to be in residence on our campus in Phase II can contact Executive Director, Alan Ziter, at [email protected] or Leasing Specialist, Sean Giffin, at [email protected]. To make a donation or Legacy Naming Gift, contact Director of Development, Stacy Goodman, at [email protected].

October is a popular month for weddings as it contains the date 10/10/10. There will be 14 wedding ceremonies in the North Chapel, one in Legacy Plaza, a rehearsal dinner in the Rose Garden and 4 receptions.
And lastly, we carry on the rich tradition of NTC as a locale for military related meetings and celebrations. The National Veterans Transitional Service regularly holds its REBOOT sessions and subsequent graduations here. You will also frequently find various meetings with and about the Navy, including the Naval Facilities Engineering Command that finds us a convenient central point.
