Recreational Music Center Now In Residence at NTC Promenade
NTC Promenade is pleased to welcome its 26th Resident Group – The Recreational Music Center, in Building 176 at Roosevelt and Truxtun. RMC is taking an innovative approach to music instruction with the use of cutting-edge technology, motivational group settings, and exciting repertoire choices relevant to students’ current musical experiences. Training programs include:
Preschool Ages 3-5
Dancing Bugs, Ringmasters and Secret Agents are just a few of the fascinating characters unveiled in this unique union of story and song. Using the Fun With Composers curriculum, children learn through fun visuals, imaginative stories, and creative improvisation. (4-8 students per class, $90/mo.)
Preschool Ages 4-6
This class prepares children for instrumental music instruction by teaching basic music theory concepts at an age appropriate level. Students will be able to identify different families of instruments and their sound, recognize clef signs, rhythm patterns, intervals on the staff, and much more. Through singing, arts and crafts, and educational games, young students become highly equipped for success with any instrument at an early age. (4-8 students per class, $90/mo.)
Piano Lab, Guitar Lab, or Drum Lab (choose one)
For students who want to learn to play, whether as a solo instrument or as part of a band – learn fundamentals of music theory and the technique of the instrument through motivating music that you help choose! Students are grouped by level, and/or musical tastes. (4-6 students per class, $120/mo.)
Intro to Rock Band, Play Piano in a Flash™, and preschool music classes begin January 5, 2009. Call the RMC for more information: 619-727-1361 or log onto www.recreationalmusiccenter.com
You Make a Difference
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Bank of America, Macy’s, Union Bank of California, and Community Service Association, San Diego Unified School District for their recent, generous contributions to the NTC Foundation. With the community’s support, NTC will once again transform the lives of new generations as NTC Promenade. You can make a difference too by making an end-of-the-year gift to the NTC Foundation.
As NTC Foundation begins to plan for Phase II of our project, we face the challenge of increasing both earned and contributed revenue, so that we can continue to translate the community’s vision for NTC Promenade into a new Arts and Culture District, where community visitors from the entire San Diego region will experience a full host of innovative, educational experiences. Special thanks to the following for their recent, generous contributions:
- Bank of America generously granted the NTC Foundation $25,000 to support marketing efforts to increase community awareness of the dozens of daily activities taking place among our 25 Resident Groups, and grow our patronage from the current 250,000 residents, visitors and students that are attending receptions, festivals, performances, classes and exhibits at NTC Promenade.
- Macy’s Foundation granted $10,000; Union Bank of California Foundation granted $5,000; and Community Service Association, San Diego Unified School District granted $1,500 to the NTC Foundation to support the inclusion of middle and high school students from the Juvenile Court and Community Schools into The Liberty School program at NTC Promenade. Some of these students are homeless, and many are under court supervision. Most have rarely, if ever, experienced academic success. The Liberty School offers them enriching, positive experiences in a supportive environment.
You can make a difference too. Please consider making an end-of-the-year donation to the NTC Foundation. Your support will help us translate the community's vision for the NTC Promenade into reality, to keep rents affordable for our nonprofit tenants, and to help the NTC Foundation build toward our long-term goal of operating self-sufficiency. Holiday Romance Is In the Air
Like “white Christmas,” “happy holidays” and “guaranteed delivery before December 25,” the phrase, “Will you marry me?” is very popular this time of year. More engagements occur during the Holidays than any other time.
Why does the holiday season prompt even more engagements than Valentine’s Day? Perhaps it’s because you gather with your family (or future in-laws), you feel that much closer to the person you’re dating, and now you have the perfect opportunity and audience to pop the question.
The Venues at NTC can offer just the right ambiance for that bended knee moment. We also have wonderful locations for that rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception.
Imagine an idyllic garden wedding in the lushly landscaped Legacy Plaza. For the more traditional, the charm of the historic North Chapel offers a wonderful option. Rehearsal dinners and small receptions fit perfectly into the fully restored NTC Command Center. And what wedding party wouldn’t relish the historic grandeur of the Event Center that can hold up to 500?
Remember, social events aren’t limited to brides and grooms. There are vows to be renewed, anniversaries to be celebrated, birthdays to commemorate, bar and bat mitzvahs, baptisms and confirmations, and many more.
The Venues at NTC are surrounded by green, bordered by water and centered on history. With plenty of free parking and atmosphere, they are the perfect place for your next celebration.
For more information or to reserve your date on our calendar, contact Cheryl Penaskovic at (619) 573-9306 or at [email protected].
