ON POINT - April 2010

Welcome Playwrights Project and Impact 195 to NTC Promenade

The NTC Foundation is pleased to welcome Playwrights Project and Impact 195 to Building 176 at our growing creative, collaborative 7-building campus of 37 arts, cultural and community groups and artists at NTC Promenade. Both organizations will further enliven NTC Promenade with programs that enrich the San Diego region.

Playwrights ProjectThe Playwrights Project is celebrating its 25th year and works to advance literacy, creativity, and communication by empowering individuals to voice their stories through playwriting programs and theatre productions. Founded by Deborah Salzer, Playwrights Project offers play writing programs to thousands of grade 3-12 students, and each year produces new plays from promising young playwrights. In April, Playwrights Project is launching its newest program - Play by Play: Cultivating Emerging Playwrights, which is a five session workshop designed to sharpen your work as a playwright and have your play read before a panel of theatre professionals. You can find out more at www.playwrightsproject.org/programs

Government, Non-Profit & Corporate – Oh My!

Our small town girl, Ashley Mullaney, Event Sales Manager, is no stranger to big business. Ashley Mullaney She caters to such diverse markets as government, military, non-profits, local associations and local corporations with ease and proficiency.

Ashley loves to assist individuals and groups returning to NTC, be it those still on active duty or veterans who come back looking for a great spot for their organization’s meeting or event.  As someone who loves a challenge, she has grown the military market with an increase of Navy meetings utilizing our venues.   And she feels a special camaraderie with other non-profits seeking that perfect venue for their next fundraiser.

Ashley came to San Diego from Green River, Wyoming.  Her husband chose the area to pursue his Ph.D. and Ashley chose to take her expertise in marketing and tourism to a larger arena.  She came to us a year ago after working for a couple of years in the Gaslamp.

Her early college days were spent at the University of Wyoming.  But she was drawn to the University of Montana-Western to study Travel and Tourism.  This wonderfully prepared her for her position with Sweetwater Travel & Tourism, the county that includes her hometown.  Don’t be mistaken, though no longer in college or even in Wyoming, she’s fiercely loyal to her Wyoming Cowboys.

Ashley’s ideal referral would be for a large conference with break-out sessions but she also loves working with local companies on their holiday parties or monthly meetings.

This outdoors girl isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty while at the beach, camping, or skiing.  So give her a call and let her work her magic to make your meeting or event memorable.  Her direct line is (619) 573-9309 or email her at [email protected].
