NTC Welcomes Bravo School of Art and Artist Petar Barbaros

They join other tenants already in residence: Core Design Studio, Kenneth Greene Photography & Design, Patrick Meehan Fine Art, Cerimone Wedding Suite and Pantaleoni Photography.

Bravo School of Art opens in July to offer individuals of all ages an opportunity to explore their creativity in a safe, supportive and fun environment. The School will offer a wide variety of hands-on art, craft and home decorating classes and workshops for the experienced and novice artist alike. Classes will include Mosaic, Mural Art, Faux Finish Painting, Book Arts, Digital Photography, Photography Your Artwork, Drawing, Painting, Basketry, Jewelry Making, Printmaking and Stained Glass. The School is founded by longtime San Diego artists and instructors Lauren Becker Downey and Nancy Isbell.

Petar Barbaros, Artist received a B.S. degree in Naval Architecture from the University of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb, Croatia. He also studied at the Advertising Arts College in San Diego, CA. He worked as an architect, engineer and illustrator in Croatia, as well as in San Diego. The NTC Foundation recently completed a $2.5 million renovation to Barracks 19, thanks to Barracks 19funding from the City of San Diego’s Redevelopment Agency and the California Heritage Fund Grant Program.  This is the first of several Navy barracks buildings, built in 1923, that will have a new mission as space for artists and designers to create, exhibit, promote and sell their work. Barracks 19 joins six other buildings at NTC Promenade that have been recently renovated in what so far has been a $40.8 million project by the NTC Foundation.

A daily listing of classes and exhibits at NTC Promenade is at www.ntcpromenade.com.

Only four studios remain in Barracks 19. To tour the studios or to find out more about leasing
opportunities, contact Sean Giffin at (619) 573-9304 or at [email protected].

Christmas in July

Gold Table Holiday Party Table SettingIt may be a tough economy, but it is definitely not the time to skip celebrating the job your employees have done to keep business rolling. Now there’s no need to host an extravagant blowout, but on the other hand it is also not the time to have an in-office pot luck. A tasteful middle-of-the-road party is just the ticket. For all of you that have held off deciding whether to throw the annual holiday party – time’s a wasting.

The Venues of NTC Promenade is just the place for your party to be held, and we can even offer you a philanthropic twist. Your rental fees go toward the restoration of more buildings in what was once the Naval Training Center. The Venues of NTC Promenade are a wonderfully historic and beautifully renovated option for your entertaining.

Here’s another holiday tip: don’t limit your scheduling options to the month of December. Stay away from the stress and chaos of scheduling yet another holiday commitment. Expand the possibilities into a “thankful” November or a “fresh start” January – both of which easily remove any religious connotations from the festivities.

To learn more about what The Venues of NTC Promenade can do to solve your entertaining woes (including free parking), call one of our expert Venue Sales Managers at (619) 573-9260. July is the best time to plan!
